Hello everyone. Tyler here for In this After Effects tutorial I want to show you how to resize one of our HD After Effects templates.

So, here we are. We are in the Flash Trailer After Effects template, and let's assume that we've already gone through and customized the template the way we would like and we are now ready to render. So, the first step is to come up to our Final Composition and double click it. Once it opens in the Timeline I'm going to come up to Composition, Composition Settings. Now you can see all of the different settings for our final composition. As you can see, it's an HD composition, and it is 1920x1080. So, let's go ahead and change that, and I'm just going to click on this preset drop down. I want to change it from an HD composition to let's say an NTSC DV composition. So, I'm going to click that, and now you can see that our width has changed to 720 and our height has changed to 480. I'm just going to click Okay, and now you can see that we have a DV composition and it is substantially smaller. Because of that we are cropping off a lot of our video.

So, the next thing I want to do is just highlight this layer and press S on the keyboard. That will bring up the scale property. I'm just going to scale it down to about 45%. Now, we are filling the entire video frame, but we are also cropping off some of our video on the sides. That's because NTSC DV's aspect ratio is different from an HD composition's aspect ratio. So, we have two choices here. We can either render it out this way and crop off some of the video, or we can scale it down even more to about 34% and we can render it out with a letterbox. It's up to you which way you want to do it, but now you have an NTSC DV video that you are ready to render.

So, I hope you learned something, and thanks for watching.
